ABOUT ALEGER

With three decades of fashion industry knowledge and experience, friends Aleida and Stephen launched ALEGER in 2020 with an offering of knitwear designs in premium cashmere. What began as a passion project quickly evolved into a global team, built on foundation of technical mastery, refined aesthetics, and an intimate understanding of how to make truly exceptional garments.

ALEGER'S founders are deeply committed to responsible manufacturing, transparency, and environmental stewardship. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and crafted in-house, allowing for complete oversight and integrity throughout the production process. For them, each collection is a testament to exceptional materials and meticulous craftsmanship—an evolving portfolio of signature styles and forward-thinking design.

DESIGNER PROFILE

ALEGER co-founder and Creative Director, Aleida Harger, leads the brand, shaped by her New Zealand heritage, her family's textile and fashion history, and three decades of experience across London, New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

“I’m a second-generation designer. My parents were designers and denim manufacturers, and my grandparents were farmers and engineers. Creativity ran through our lives—pottery, painting, sewing, and working the land. It was an entrepreneurial, modern, and creative upbringing, deeply rooted in respect for the land and craftsmanship. This foundation shapes my design approach, where quality and attention to detail are paramount.”

“ALEGER pieces are designed to last for years to come, blending seamlessly into your life as a go-to essential and forever favourite.  Our customers value quality and timeless design, but they also appreciate the subtle deconstruction techniques and artistic details woven into our collections. They’re not just buying clothes; they’re investing in sophistication, style, and comfort. And we know this can only be achieved through superior design, exceptional quality, and meticulous attention to detail.” – Aleida Harger

ALEGER is committed to sourcing knitwear materials exclusively from responsible suppliers that prioritise transparency and environmental care.

PACKAGING

Every little bit counts so ALEGER carefully select packaging that ensures a lighter load on the environment. From the 100% recycled LDPE polybags, plastic free desiccant to the FSC-certified kraft paper and recycled paper hang-tags, ALEGER is unwavering in its commitment to the environment.

-  The clear garment polybags protecting our knits are made with 100% recycled LDPE (low density polyethylene) and can be recycled after use.

-  All on-line orders are packed in poly-bags which are made from plant-based plastics and are compostable.

-  To protect our knitwear from moisture during its journey, we use a plastic-free desiccant made from natural bentonite clay that is packaged in biodegradable FSC-certified Kraft paper.

-  Where we can, we use recycled paper including our hang-tags, packing slips and tissue paper.

NO WASTE

The label has adopted a “no waste” commitment; left-over yarn is used for small details on garments in future collections or in small run accessories.
