ABOUT ALEGER
With three decades of fashion industry knowledge and experience, friends Aleida and Steve launched ALEGER with one idea: to create exceptional knitwear using the finest natural fibres, guided by skill, not speed.
From a quiet beginning came a global team connected not by scale, but by shared precision, purpose, and a belief in clothing that speaks through detail.
Everything is designed and produced in-house, ensuring total transparency and control during the production process. Although founded in knitwear, the vision is to move forward, evolving shape, structure, and form into a wider expression of style.

DESIGNER PROFILE
ALEGER is led by co-founder and Creative Director Aleida Harger, whose approach is shaped by her Aotearoa New Zealand heritage, a family history in textiles, and three decades of high-end fashion industry experience in London, New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.
“I’m a second-generation designer. My parents were in denim, my grandparents were farmers and engineers. Creativity and making things by hand were part of everyday life. That entrepreneurial spirit and respect for craftsmanship still guides everything I do. Craftsmanship and precision must lead the way.”

MAKING ALEGER

ALEGER is committed to responsible practices, transparency, and environmental stewardship. We use only premium, responsibly sourced natural fibres and follow the highest standards of environmental care throughout production.
100% of the knitwear collection is knitted and finished at our factory in Hangzhou, China, where strict controls are in place at every stage to ensure full transparency and exceptional quality.
ALEGER adheres to rigorous environmental and social compliance standards across our supply chain. Our factory is audited annually by independent bodies to EU standards and holds BSCI, SMETA, and WRAP certifications.
MATERIALS
ALEGER sources all knitwear materials exclusively from responsible suppliers who prioritise transparency and environmental care.
Working with four trusted yarn partners, each recognised for excellence and strict quality control from raw fibre to finished yarn, ALEGER can ensure full traceability and consistent standards.
All cashmere is certified by The Good Cashmere Standard, reflecting sustainable sourcing and responsible farming. All cotton used in the collection is organically farmed.
Packaging is selected to reduce environmental impact. 100% recycled LDPE polybags, plastic-free desiccants, FSC-certified kraft paper, and recycled paper hang-tags are used.
100% Cashmere
ALEGER’s signature cashmere yarn is made from premium fibres sourced from Inner Mongolia. With an average micron of 15.2–15.8μm, the yarn is buttery soft and luxurious, yet durable and long-lasting. Thanks to its finer, loftier fibres, it is also 2–3 times warmer than merino wool.
70% Wool / 30% Cashmere
The wool used in the cashmere blend is sourced from suppliers certified by the Responsible Wool Standard. The blend contains 40% recycled wool, offering a sustainable option without compromising softness or performance.
85% Pima Cotton / 15% Cashmere
This yarn is crafted from American-grown Pima cotton blended with cashmere. Pima’s extra-long staple fibres provide enhanced strength and softness with excellent dye absorption. The result is a pill-resistant, high-performance yarn that delivers longer-lasting, high-quality garments.
95% Organic Cotton / 5% Cashmere
A premium yarn made from 95% Organic Cotton and 5% Cashmere. It is fully traceable and certified by the Organic Content Standard (OCS), offering superior softness with a lower environmental footprint.
PACKAGING
Every little bit counts so ALEGER carefully select packaging that ensures a lighter load on the environment. From the 100% recycled LDPE polybags, plastic free desiccant to the FSC-certified kraft paper and recycled paper hang-tags, ALEGER is unwavering in its commitment to the environment.
- The clear garment polybags protecting our knits are made with 100% recycled LDPE (low density polyethylene) and can be recycled after use.
- All on-line orders are packed in poly-bags which are made from plant-based plastics and are compostable.
- To protect our knitwear from moisture during its journey, we use a plastic-free desiccant made from natural bentonite clay that is packaged in biodegradable FSC-certified Kraft paper.
- Where we can, we use recycled paper including our hang-tags, packing slips and tissue paper.
NO WASTE
The label has adopted a “no waste” commitment; left-over yarn is used for small details on garments in future collections or in small run accessories.
All discontinued stock is donated to communities in need.
